Holiness is being
like GOD. For He said, "Be ye holy
for I am holy." Holiness is hearing
GOD's voice and obeying His commandments. It is keeping yourself
pure, clean and unspotted from the world. "For
God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness."
[1 Thessalonians 4:7] also
"Having therefore these promises, dearly
beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh
and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
[II Corinthians 7:1]
When we walk in GOD's love and commandments then we are holy. We walk towards the mark of perfection. With true perfection there comes that perfect love and obedience to GOD and His commandments. Jesus Christ himself is our model. We are to follow him and exemplify the very things that he did. Holiness entails that perfect love and obedience... being conformed to the image and likeness of Him who created us. GOD in Christ, Christ in us. Every saint of GOD bears the image of the HOLY ONE. "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." [Ephesians 4:24]
So friends," let use lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith." [Hebrews 12:1]
"Holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever." [Psalms 93:5]
"And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein." [Isaiah 35:8]
"The oath which he sware to our father
Abraham, that he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of
the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness
and righteousness before him, all the days of our life." [Luke 1:73-75]
"I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness." [Romans 6:19]
"But now being made free from sin, and
become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the
end everlasting life."
